How I use mypoints to coupon

I haven't had a coupon blog, for as long as I can remember.  I don't particularly identify with extreme couponing. In fact, If I am out and about I will typically use a coupon if I have one on hand, but never match sales anymore. UNLESS, of course it comes to CVS.  CVS is my couponing dream come true.  I'm not even exaggerating.  It is by far the easiest place for me to save HUGE.  I typically will only buy things that earn ECBs (extrabucks - store cash).  I will save them and roll them on a deal combing other coupons in order to get items free, free earning ecbs (money makers), or super cheap.

Now that I have Danny, and have to buy diapers all over again (and believe me, the prices in diapers have gone up A LOT since my oldest two were in them), I try EVERYTHING to save money on diapers, be it amazon warehouse boxes, coupons, etc. CVS is my go to lately though.

Now, let me tell you my little secret.  I used to have a mypoints.com account. I still do.  I decided last year to re explore it, because it had been a while. Basically, if I search a merchant through mypoints, and shop online via mypoints, mypoints credits me x amount of points per dollar spent after up to 30 days. I mean, look at it this way, if you're shopping online anyway, why not earn points towards your purchase to later cash in on.  They also have in store promotions from time to time, where you upload a receipt and can bank BIG points.  I participate in surveys sometimes to earn points, or print coupons through them and they track the usage and credit me points for that as well, along with a plethora of other options.  Once I have a certain amount of points banked, I cash them in for gift cards.

I myself cash mine in for CVS online e gift cards.  This makes my couponing stretch EXTRA long and I get even better deals. Interested? Sign up here :)

Here are some of my deals using coupons, ECBs and mypoints gift cards to show you examples of how I save BIG being a mom of 3.

CVS Deal Transaction Last Week:

Huggies were on sale buy one get one 50% off.
I purchased (3) 25 count packs and (1) 19 count pack (my son is big in a size 5 so his size is hit or miss in stores)

$12.89 + $5.89 (half off) + $11.79 + $5.89
TOTALS Before Coupons: $36.46

Now, I had (4) printable huggies coupons that I used through mypoints.
(2) $3 off and (2) $2 off, so $38.48 - $10 (in printable coupons)

I then used a $6 off $30 purchase coupon that CVS emailed me.

I then rolled an ECB from the prior week for $5, so $22.48 - $5 = $14.86 (they only charged tax on SOME coupons), so $14.86 = $2.02 sales tax = $16.88

Now, check out my receipt and you will see the $10 gift card applied (that was an egift card from mypoints).
$16.88 - $10 egift card = $6.88 OUT OF POCKET

The CVS extrabuck deal was, spent $30 on Huggies and earn $10 extrabucks.

So, $10 - $6.88 is a profit of $3.12 !!  I walked out of CVS having made $3.12 for 93 diapers! Even Wal Mart can't beat that!

NEXT, is showing you an example of how I ROLL that $10 into another transaction for THIS week:

CVS promotion of spent $25 in participating products earn $7 ECB, So I purchased (2) charmin at $9.99 each and (5) Dawn dish soaps at .99 each = $24.93 (they round it up to $25)

CVS promotion of buy (2) Irish Spring body soap at 2 for $8 get back $3 ECB (I did this twice, since they have a limit of 4, and Stephen likes this body wash).  So, $16.

TOTALS BEFORE COUPONS: $24.93 + 16 = $40.93 + $2.76 sales tax = $ 43.69 

I used the $10 ECB from last week, so $43.69 - $10 = $33.69
I then used a $25 mypoints gift card I cashed out on this week, so $33.69 - $25 = $8.69 OUT OF POCKET

Now, on this deal, I earned $7 ECB for the Charmin and Dawn Deal and $6 on the Irish Spring deal, making me earn $13 in ECBs.

$13 ECB - $8.69 out of pocket makes a profit of $4.31!!  

I'm sure I could have gotten this deal cheaper had I had manufacturer coupons on hand, but no biggie!

So in the last two weeks, I spent out of pocket $6.88 + $8.69 = $15.57 for all items picture above and STILL have $13 to spend!  So it's like getting it all for $2.57.

So, that being said, I have $13 in ECBs and I still have a $5 mypoints gift card left to spent. I see more cheap diapers in my future.

CVS couponing trips for the week of 8/19/2012

So, I know I have once again, neglected to update this blog as often as I'd like.  My a/c is still out, and there has been a lot going on, but never the less, I have still been finding ways to save with the blessings I call coupons & CVS sales :)

Here is just an example of a great deal I partook in today at CVS on Charmin toilet paper.

CVS has the 16 double rolls of Charmin TP on sale for $9.99 a package. When you spend $30 you receive $10 back in store credit (ecbs). - Don't worry if you're a few cents below the $30 cut off, you will still receive the $10 credit back!

These same rolls are at Wal Mart for $13.47, so right away it is a great deal! Now let me show you how you can roll your previous ECB's onto new deals that ALSO earn ECB's to maximize your dollar!

So for what you would be paying a little over $40 for at Wal Mart, here is what you can get at CVS using your store coupons and ecb's wisely!

Here's the break down:

THREE 16 Double Rolls of Charmin @ $9.99 each

=$29.97

- $3 off $15 purchase coupon (CVS email)

= $26.97

-$10 in extra care bucks from previous weeks transaction

= $16.97 

-.25 coupon in newspaper insert

= $16.72 + $1.89 pre coupon tax total

=$18.61 out of pocket

You get back a $10 extra care buck on this transaction making it $8.61 for all THREE packages

(the same ones you would pay $40 for at Wal Mart).

This makes it $2.87 PER 16 ROLL PACKAGE!!! WOW!! :)

everything else FREE or $$2.25 each item and getting bacfk $10 :D either way it's an incredible deal :D

So, as you can see, you can make that dollar REALLY stretch in a tight economy! With two children, I consider each coupon and CVS's generous rewards program a God send!  :))

I haven't been on my usual couponing kick.
(Why bother, it's almost always out of stock when it comes to deals). However, I was in need of toilet paper, and dryer sheets, and figured since I had two extra bucks (one for $5.99 & one for $2.50) I would figure a scenario to get the most bang for my buck!

CVS emailed me a printable coupon for $5 off the purchase of $25.

Combined with my extrabucks that would be an automatic saving of $13.49 off $25! So I scoured the Sunday sales advertisement to see what I could get for $25 and what else I had coupons for.

I came up with these items:

* Charmin 16 pack on sale for $9.99
(.25 coupon in P&G Sunday paper insert)
* 120 ct. Bounce dryer sheets
(did not clip a coupon)
Now my filler items to get my total to $25 so I could save $5!
* Pantene Pro V Shampoo & Conditioner (2 for $6.97)
($3 off the purchase of 2 from old paper insert).
* Gillette Body Wash On sale for $3 each buy two =$6
(Used buy one get one coupon from previous P&G Sunday paper insert)

Total Before Coupons Applied: $28.95 (not counting sales tax)

- $5 off $25 coupon =
$23.95
- $5.99 extra buck =

- $2.50 extra buck=

Now because these products are a "spend $30 in select products get a FREE $10 gas card". I spend $22 (pre coupon) worth toward that goal.

I have to spend $7 to get the gas card, so I will go tomorrow and get 2 more Pantene Pro V @ $6.97 and ONE dawn dish soap @ .99
My total will be $7.96
- $3 coupon & -.50 soap coupon
= $4.46 out of pocket to earn my $10 gas card!

So the 10.72+4.46= $15.18 out of pocket EARNING a $10 gas card (which is always needed & I would get anyway) Means I spent $5 for EVERYTHING at CVS and only paid 10 for my own gas;)

You can't even get all of that for so cheap at Wal Mart! :D

CVS Scenario for Memorial Day Weekend!!

If you recall my previous CVS trip, you will remember I made $9 in extra bucks. When Thursday came, I was eager to check out the up and coming ad for this Sunday to see what items were earning extra bucks that I also had coupons for.

I was excited to see CVS also emailed me a $5 off $25 purchase coupon:

One of my local stores does their Sunday deals on Saturday evening, so I took advantage so that I could obtain the items in stock and not have to worry about being up early to beat other shoppers before they wiped the shelves clean. (Happens EVERY time)!

Thankfully, my math was right on the money and I scored everything pictured for $1.45 +$2 sales tax for a grand total of $3.45 out of pocket.

I also made back (1) $2 extra buck on the Pantene deal and (1) $3 extra buck on the candy deal. If you want to look at it another way it is LIKE getting everything FREE + making a $1.55 profit!

In addition to these awesome finds, I also hit my $50 CVS beauty club mark and will receive another $5 extra buck from the coupon center in a few days. $10 goes a long way at CVS when combined with coupons, doesn't it? Can't wait to see what next weeks deals are! :)

Other than that, I have been extremely overwhelmed with my children, getting by and doing the side jobs. I am thinking tonight I may finish the last of the painting on this second Craig's list dresser. I can't wait to show it off when it is done.

Gymboree Sale Online

I love Gymboree. I think the clothing is adorable! I rarely shop Gymboree, however, because it's just not in my budget. AT ALL ;) Every so often when a sale runs, I will pick something up.

It is shocking to me the outlet stores charge FULL price on last years lines. I bought MiMi a dress once from one in Smithfield and I will never do it again.

So I received an email from Gymboree stating that they had a $12.99 sale. I figured, it's probably on the tshirts and thought I'd go window shopping via the internet to browse at stuff I could never afford.

When I got to MiMi's size section, I was shocked to see the $35 dresses on sale for $12.99. Of course, I see that as a bargain any day I can get a dress that cheap that looks cute.

Now don't laugh at me ya'll, but the zebra safari line is just too darn cute! And so I scooped these items up:

Okay, so normally I would never ever spend that much on a kids bracelet, but Gymboree says if you spend $50, you get a $25 certificate with your order. How could I say no? I'd rather spend that extra $25 now to get that extra $25 comes the redemption period when I will need to buy little one school clothing anyway :)

SO I spent $52.95 on what would have been over $100 retail value. I will get $25 in gymbucks back so this makes the outfits cheaper than I could of bought at, per say, Target or the likes..

I bought the scarf for her hair, and I really wanted the chambray romper but they were out of her size :( I'll use it with another denim type outfit I'm sure.

My niece was born July 5th, so I picked her up a couple things to go in her birthday package also. (Had to get her a matching dress and hair bows, curlies, er, whatever you all them). And 4th of July clips. I was going to buy the gymbo 4th of July outfit, but then decided I had seen cuter ones on etsy so will hit them up, or make a tutu myself for her and hire someone to make her an embroidered tank top for the 4th with ribbon straps. BTW, if any of you lovely readers make embroidered tanks, please message me, I'd rather buy from a reader :)

The mail was exciting today. First the expo washable marker's house party kit from houseparty.com came:

It came with 16 packs fine point markers, 16 packs or large markers, 16 dry erase markers, 16 dry erase boards, AND one LARGE dry erase tripod board. The guests are going to love this!!
Of course since my kids would be getting one also, when Ethan saw me open the box he begged to play with one, so I gave him one to test out:

He also went on to color my walls in the kitchen. AND the white cabinets. And the fridge. Oh, and dare I say it, the glass windows. Yep, he had a field day. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to see if expo washable markers lived up to their name. I took a wet paper towel, and it came off instantly. I see myself purchasing these solely in the future for him for this VERY reason.

I have a few extra packs for non attendees that I am sending to promised friends via snail mail, and I will also give a set to MiMi's teacher so the kids can use them at school.

I let MiMi try out the larger board and she is smitten by it. Kids LOVE to color, they LOVE markers. THEY LOVE things they can erase with out fuss and this does that job! These would make a perfect summer "keep em busy" item.

I also received a free product coupon for cottonelle flushable wipes. THANKS COTTONELLE!!

CVS looks like the perfect week to roll the extrabucks! Many of you cvs'ers have probably received the $5 off $25 purchase coupon. Usually when I get this coupon, I take it as an opportunity to use my buy one get one coupons.

That $15 worth of extrabucks and a mypoints gift card? Well, I told ya I would roll it, and I did :) Here is what I got

Transaction one (first cvs store bc they were out of everything else)
(1) Revlon nail polish @ $4.99 paid with a $5 extracare buck (didn't even charge tax) Got back $4 extracare bucks

Transaction two (second store)
2 Revlon nail polish @4.99 each = 9.98 Paid with $10 mypoints gift card
Got back $8 in extracare bucks

Transaction three
(2) softsoap body washes @ 2 for $7
(1) 50 ounce purex laundry detergent @$1.98
MINUS $1 off any purex =$7.98
used the $8 in extrabucks form previous transaction to pay for it all
FREE + made back $5 on the 2 softsoaps (deal was buy 2 @ $7 and make $5 extrabucks).

So everything above was FREE just for rolling my store credits!
I now have (1) ecb $4 and (1) ecb $5
I made $9 to take everything out of the store:)

Of course I had to splurge and by myself the new revlon colorburst lipgloss in hot pink. I loved it so much from the sample I recieved in the mail that I purchased it at the full $8 :) haha.

Coupon deals this week (that I have/will partake in):

I have to admit, I have been discouraged stepping into most stores once the sales ads hit. It used to be I'd go in and get my items with my one set of coupons and the shelves would be hearty.

Now when I go first thing in the morning I find that the shelves in the only two stores I really coupon at (CVS & Harris Teeter) are bare first thing. I know some people have multiple coupons and stock up. I guess I am just jealous I never even get the chance to use my one coupon ;) But, as they say in the coupon cyber world "the early bird gets the worm".

Some how even though I get there very early, I usually miss out.

All I have done this week was the purex laundry detergent @ CVS.
Okay, I should admit it, I am a hypocrit according to my above statement, because I infact used 3 purex coupons.

CVS has a sale on the 50 ounce Purex laundry detergent bottles for $1.98.
I used a $1 off purex coupon in one of the ad inserts from a couple of weeks ago, making my 3 laundry detergents .98 a piece.

Since I didn't have any coupons to use on other extrabuck earning deals @ CVS this week, I decided that was all I would get..UNTIL I checked my mailbox this afternoon:

I redeemed my mypoints.com points for a $10 CVS card. Then I also had a $5 beauty club extra buck print out for me on the coupon center. I plan to hit up CVS in the morning and roll that money like you wouldn't believe :) So tomorrow I will show you how I roll this combined total of $15 and get tons of things FREE and make money back! (Hint: includes revlon nail polish, softsoap body wash, one more bottle of purex etc..Have to do it when you have 2 kids and are on a limited income).

Not only did I get that in the mail, Ore-Ida sent a coupon for a FREE bag of sweet potato fries, via their facebook page. Oh my, lucky day for me!

Okay, so I must say, I need to get more on my game in terms of the sales and coupons, because the coupon bug has HIT MY CITY :) As much as I love the shared knowledge, it is sad to me when I can't use my one coupon because the shelves are cleared. Oh well, I am being greedy. (In my defense I give a ton of it away free and only buy items I will use).

I did pretty decent, here is what I got for $10.48 out of pocket (taxes included @ the .08% rate in my city):

Alright, so this was a great CVS week to roll your extrabucks, plus CVS was extra generous on the coupon machine; even printing high value coupons for items that were earning ecbs (extracare bucks)!!

I did two transactions to get all of this for $6.58 TAXES INCLUDED!!

The first transaction, was the biore pore strips & facial cleanser.
CVS had a promotion, (spend $15 in curel/biore get $4 extrabucks back).
So the pore strips were 7.50 & the facial cleanser was also 7.50.
SO $15 (which put me at my mark to earn $4 extracarebucks).
I had a buy one get one biore coupon from one of the Sunday paper inserts from last month, this brought my total down to 7.50
I also used a $2 off any biore product printable coupon from biore's facebook page
New total 5.50 + tax.
I used my $6 extracare buck I earned from last weeks transactions and only paid sales tax out of pocket :)

I made $4 off this transaction.

TRANSACTION 2 $6.58 (SALES TAX INCLUDED) OUT OF POCKET. Here is how:

*Miracle Bubbles = $1.99 (you will get $1.99 back in extrabucks at the end of your receipt)
* Dove body wash = $12 for 2 (you will get $4 extrabucks back on this transaction at the end of your receipt)

So my totals for everything before coupons was:
$27.96 (pre taxes)

$27.96 - $4 off $20 purchase coupon that printed for me at the CVS coupon center when I scanned my cvs card today
=$23.96

($1.99 for the bubbles & $4 for the Dove)

Alright, for $33.66 worth of product (after tax included), I paid only $17.66 out of pocket. At the end of my transaction I was given a $10 extrabuck, so this made it like getting EVERYTHING in this picture for ONLY $7.66 !!

Here is my receipt for the products purchased & coupon break down (NOTE: to enlarge this image just click on it, it will open in another window bigger).

This week I used 12.50 worth in extrabucks (one $7, one $3 & one $2.50) I had saved from the last two weeks. I also used a $5 off the purchase of $25 printable coupon that CVS emailed me for spring spending and to promote the fact that they would be printing your winter spending extrabucks at the coupon center! (You earn 2% of your quarterly spendings back in extra bucks 4x a year).

Here is the extrabuck that printed at the end of my transaction:

NOW, IF YOU DO NOT have extrabucks to ROLL this week, or are new to CVS (first sign up for the extra rewards card-it's FREE, register it online to get online coupons!) then the "spend $30 get $10 back on pictured Proctor & Gamble products" is a GREAT way to start with the rolling extrabucks this week! I have already checked and ALL the prices of the products pictured are ATLEAST $1 cheaper at CVS than Wal Mart's advertised prices this week! So, you may be thinking, "But, Jen, Wal Mart will price match". YES, dear readers Wal Mart DOES price match, however, will Wal Mart give you $10 in store credit back for spending $30? NOPE! So this is the week at CVS to stock up on toilet paper, laundry detergent AND paper towels, make that $10 back and roll it into other items that also earn extra bucks this week.

For example, with that $10 I just made, I will roll it on body wash and tooth paste pay NOTHING out of pocket for these items aka FREE, earn extrabucks BACK on those purchases and ROLL em next week:) Feel free to ask questions if you have any :)
